So generally eat non-vegetarian food out or rather we eat out to eat non-veg food.
Hence most of my reviews may be about the non-veg food that we eat in and around Panaji.
Some of the places we visit are small but the food is authentic Goan food and yummy............ !
It follows that in case you want to eat out in Goa try these.
Review of HOTEL MANOSHANTI restaurant PADMAJA
As my husband, daughters and I love non-vegetarian food we regularly eat out. Few of restaurants are our regular haunt namely Texas and Manoshanti. Both these places are off the 18 June road, the main road in Panaji, Goa and easily reachable.
It was quite a relief that my daughters were once in agreement about us visiting Hotel Manoshanti.
Hotel Manoshanti’s restaurant is Padmaja , a joint we have been visiting since my elder daughter was one years old and she used to sit on 2 plastic stackable chairs. It was quite a sight her mouth and the plate were in line and she used to shovel the salad that we ordered for her.
The whole place is very welcoming and the décor is pleasant with oil paintings.
Since we went in at 7.15pm we had the whole place to ourselves.
Our first order was drinks – it had to be “sol-Kadi” and “futi – Kadi”
Sol Kadi is made by soaking “sola” in coconut milk, it is mildly flavored with garlic, green chillies, salt and coriander where as “futi Kadi” is made soaking sola in water , garlic, hing , green chillies, salt and coriander. They are generally eaten at the end of a meal with rice and considered a digestive but they are quite refreshing before a meal.
Over the drinks we pondered what to order as meal.
We finally settled for butter chicken, chicken briyani, chicken rava fried, rotis and of course my personal favorite green peas fry. It is normally served with drinks but…….who cares?
What is good food without good hospitality? Our waiter was full of smiles! He taught my delighted little daughter to fold napkins in new ways (now I have to hide any cloth that’s square).
The best thing is the speed. Food came so fast that my daughters did not have time to whine. And well the prices? REASONABLE! A completely satisfying experience….
We were back at about 9.30pm, just in time for bed.
During the Christmas weekend we had been to Rustic Retreat at Valpoi, Sattri, Goa. The place is beautiful, food wonderful and the staff excellent. Need I say more? Here are the pictures to do the talking ……..
