Alande or Cow Peas

As a part of Blogging Marathon I have chosen Kid Friendly Snacks, snacks that can be ready under 30 minutes. This is my entry for  BM#14, Group 2, Day 1.

We have store brought snacks in the evening as I am too tired and frankly it never did occur to me that some planning and precooking in the morning can get me delicious and healthy snacks.

Basically I want to try out something that my elder daughter (who hates cooking but   cooks beautifully when needed, read when I am not well) can make in a jiffy when she comes with her friends.

Banana Bread~A blog Hop

For today’s Blog Hop started by Radhika I am paired once again with Veena of Veg. Junction.

Choosing what I wanted to make was very easy as I had already bookmarked some recipes and plus the banana plant that we had planted decided to bestow its fruits on us.

Seeing Veena’s yummy bread I was a tad bit too confident and my bread did not rise to the occasion.

Cauliflower Salad

My friend Vidys’s mother made this delicious salad to go with her famous Prawns Khichidi.

Prawn Khichidi is something that we all relished and consumed and this was an ideal side dish.

Yes I do eat and relish Non-Veg. food I just do not cook it. Like my friend Sheetal knows fish is my dessert. No amount of cajoling on her part can make me eat it first with my rice or chapatti.  So she calls me all kinds of feline names but just for the awesome fish she brings for me I just let it slide by. Ha-ha!!

Coming to the salad here is what you will need.

Sweet Potato Sweet Chips

Happy Holi and Happy Women’s Day to all of you!!
Sweets are something that I worship!!
When I told this to a friend who also happens to be a doctor he said no you are satiated a bit later than others!!

 Whatever I love sweets! Period!

And I want to eat them come what may.

Okay so here is my recipe for the day. This was what Amma made quite often and can be made in a jiffy.

Ingredients:
4 baby sweet potatoes, washed
2 tsp ghee (I used homemade)
1/4 cup sugar
2 green cardamoms, powdered

Method:
1.    Slice the sweet potatoes thin, store under water to prevent browning.
2.    Heat the ghee in a thick bottomed kadhai/wok.
3.    Add the sweet potato slices, mix and cook covered.
4.    When the slices are cooked (about 4-5 minutes) add the sugar.
5.    Mix and let the sugar melt and bubble. Do not stir at this point.
6.    When the sugar has all formed thick syrup your job is done.
7.    Stir in the green cardamom.
8.    Tastes best hot or cold.
