Coconut Semolina Cake~ Goan Bath
At least most of my friends consider me strange as I don't use Naal or coconut, as it is known in Konkani, as much as they do. For most (read all) of their curries coconut is a must, be it fish curry or tonak. They talk is 1 coconut or two and not having coconut at home is something equivalent to not having salt at home.
Most Goan dishes sweets like Bebinca, Dodol are well known and are made of Coconut milk. Bath or Batkh as it sometimes pronounced is a delicious dish not too well known is made out of coconut and rava.

Fruit Chaat
Today is the last day of Blogging Marathon. I am sorry that it has come to an end. I thought that my family will start complaining about the salad or soup that I was dishing out daily luckily even the little one has not. I would have been happier if she had tried the different salads and soups but that’s her I did not want to force her as she might give up on them totally.
Today’s salad is Fruit chaat I must confess that only my hubby and I ate it as it was rejected by both my daughter’s for various reasons.
Milkmaid Chocolate Barfi
Anything with chocolate & I am the best mom that the world has so I set about making this one.
I also spoke to my SIL asking her why we have not made in ages. Even she was at a loss but she encouraged me remake as I confessed that I had not made anything for Diwali and everything was store brought.

Back to Roots~~ Butter Idli
F or quite some time I have wanted to make this special idli Butter Idli that my MIL used to make.
It’s tricky as there is no urid daal in it and the consistency has to be absolutely correct. I have already failed 3 times now.
So here is the recipe that I have already posted.
Sutikai Kosambri or Kakdi chi Koshimbir
Today I have chosen to write about my daughter’s favourite salad known in Kannada as “Sutikai Kosambri” or in Marathi as “Kakdi chi Koshimbir”!

Palak Salad 2
I was to post a soup recipe today but there is a small hitch I have not made it as yet. I cannot decide if I want to make Lung Fung Soup or Hot and Sour as I want a Chinese soup.
Given a choice Hubby will say Sweet Corn, Elder one something exotic which though a challenge is not what I want to make and younger one Tomato Soup. So I am feeling like Atlas right now.
So folks bear with me and try this salad. It’s again, oh no as kids said, palak/spinach and potatoes but a Tarla Dalal one! Put an end to the girls’ protests too! J
Well I put up with the garlic too just because it was Tarla Dalal recipe! Made a few changes which I have marked. also I have omitted the milk powder as I don't like the smell of it you can use it if you want about 2 tblspn.

Tossed Salad with Sweet Lime
Stuck with some chopped cabbage that I needed to finish off and with something new that daughter demanded I came up with this simple but very tasty salad.
I have never before used sweet lime in my salad but after this once I will never stop using it in my salads.

Cal de Verde
We are supposed to go to Catholic wedding today night.
In Goa a Catholic wedding is called”KaJar” there are nuptials in the church and then a reception in hall. There is lot of music, dance and food. Since food will be served late and the kids will be stuffing themselves with soft drinks and snacks served earlier I wanted the kids to eat something filling and hot.
You guessed it we had soup! And this is my entry for BM Day #3 Group2!

Masoor Salad
I love massor its always in my fall back plan when there are no veggies in at home, because you can soak it up at the last possible moment but still you get a delicious Tonak out of it. So I had the other day. At the last possible moment I decided that the quantity of masoor that I have soaked is too much and I let it remain in the sieve. Too late to put it in the fridge I went to work.

Tomato Soup
Every time Srivalli announced her blogging marathon my schedule was arranged such that it was impossible to join the gang. But this time I was determined to join it come what may and so I did and boy and I am thrilled!
So for the next 7 days The Mad Scientist is open to only salads or soups! Luckily the kids agreed. So today is day#1 of the Blogging Marathon#9 do check out the others.
Diwali is round the corner which means now there will be a nip in the air. You will want something hot to warm up. There will be lovely fresh red tomatoes in the market inviting you to try some delicious soup.
