Gulab Jamun for SNC #2

When Divya Pramil of you too can cook Indian food came up with this idea of having to teams North and South both challenging the other team I was thrilled. I signed up.
Then for various health reasons I could not sit at the computer and I had given up on this challenge. In fact I have not participated in any of the groups for which I am a member.
Then the other day I saw this beautiful Gulab Jamun post that the North posed for us here in the South. It was my hubby’s birthday the next day so I decided that this is what I will fed him!!
My idea was how difficult can it be?
But pride goes before a fall and I fell mightily learnt a lesson in humility!!J

Announcing Kid's Delight ~ Story Book Special

The best days in life are when you are kid! School and Home, Play and Study, Eat and Drink added to this were Long Vacations!

What was the best part of vacation were cousins and visits to library. I remember going to the library at opening and coming back as the Librarian was hungry for his lunch. Evenings we were not allowed to go to the library as we used to come back late!!!

We cousins still remember our treks to the library and the way we use to discuss the books we read, the foods we read about since it was mostly Enid Blyton that we read we discussed frying eggs( a no-no in our family), scones, cakes, sandwich. Ah those were the days!!

In an effort to grip the grains of time that are flowing away as the days pass by Srivalli and I thought to theme this times Kids Delight to be Cooking From Story Books.
It need not be from Enid Blyton ladies you may cook from any story book that you read.
Right now my kids read Harry Potter so I may send in some HP dishes. The one thing that floors me in HP is ‘Pumpkin Juice’. How does one make it?

Shaped Bread Rolls

My bread basket

In her introduction for Baking Partners #4 Swati said that as Thanksgiving is approaching, we were to make some dinner rolls.

Our challenge is Shaped Dinner Rolls as baking bread is what most of us have tried. but this time we were to make them  going to add some technique not only make them taste great, but also look beautiful.

As a part of the challenge we were given two different recipes, one with egg and other without egg. We were to choose either one of it.  We were also to make changes top suit our taste and needs. The one mandatory thing was that we to try at least three shapes, from 7 different shapes given for challenge. The different shapes we were given were
1)         Clover leaf  2) Rose Shape 3) small braid 4) knot 5) crescent shape 6) Rosette or Kaiser 7) Lion house rolls.
