Hot Cross Idli

My husband is a great fan of cheese.
Any cheese is okay with him in fact if there is no cheese, no let me rephrase it there have to be minimum 2 kinds  of cheese at home else I am a bad manager.L

Now he constantly after me to make cheese idli, his preferred breakfast or snack is idli or oats in buttermilk by the way, I have been scoffing at the idea all the time. Finally I could take it no more I made it here are the “Hot Cross Idlis”!

I must say they tasted good especially the ones in which I added the pumpkin peel chutney.

Beet Root Cake.

That I am known my family as someone who experiments with food is not new.

In fact hubby’s aunt once commented that I cannot eat the same amti, bhaji, poli and bhat everyday and I have taught the same to my family. How do you expect variety in food every day?

At that moment I felt very bad and tried to confirm to the norm but now I realize there are so many ways of making the veggie in question that I cannot eat the same thing everyday also I am not the only one who wants variety she should look at my friends here.

So we do have  problem veggies in our house one of them  is beet root. I just cannot get them to eat it! I have waxed eloquently about the nutrients in beets, the lovely colour that it has etc. but all is like pouring water over the ducks back!!

Sandwich

Before I begin I would like to thank the Earl of Sandwich for popularizing sandwich.

I had read in the Reader’s Digest that he had done quite a few experiments much to the discomfort of his family and no doubt after spending a lot of time and money when his experiments were discarded. The recent version that I read was that invented sandwich for practical purposes which was play cards not waste time eating.

I tried searching for the article in RD, but could not find it, however here is one of the many that you can google for the history of sandwich.

Whatever had it not been for him one of us would have had to reinvent the age old method of eating bread and meat/veggies in our case.

Sandwiches are served in different forms with meat or without meat, with veggies or a mix of both.

My kids love chutney sandwiches so when I tried this different filling in their sandwich I was unsure of the reactions, but when I did not get any complaints it is taken for granted that the sandwiches were enjoyed. I did not ask them “Aa Bail Mujhe MAar”! No thanks.

Roasted Potatoes

Simple is the best. What can be simpler than grilling potatoes in the oven?
This is my entry for BM#14, Group 2, Day2.

These are by no means unique they do put up an appearance in the blog world regularly but the girls love them.

This I made because every time we go the local supermarket Kiddo 2 always wants to buy the potato wedges, smiles or some other stuff just like that. rather than pay a bomb I opted to make them.

They get done as I am cooking in the morning and are ready to eat in the evening when they come back. They prefer to eat it with tomato sauce or sweet chili.
