We love the food at the local Udupi restaurant.
Every time we go there my husband is sure to
order Idli and Masala Pav.
So I was always interested in making it.
The original one is akin to a burger minus
the cutlet with loads of garlic, pav bhaji, onions and tomatoes.
Here is my version, a milder version i might add...
Ingredients:
2 big pav or bread
2 onions, chopped fine
2 tomatoes, chopped fine
4-5 cloves garlic, crushed
4 big ladles of pav bhaji
1 tblsp tomato sauce (optional)
1 tsp chili powder (optional)
Oil/Butter
Salt
Coriander for garnishing
Spring onion greens
Pomegranate seeds (optional)
Spring onion greens
Pomegranate seeds (optional)
Method:
1.
Make bite sizes pieces of the pav.
2.
Heat the oil and add the garlic and fry till you get a nice aroma.
3.
Add the onion and fry till translucent.
4.
Add the tomatoes and fry till mushy.
5.
Add the chili powder and tomato sauce if using.
6.
Add the pav pieces and pav bhaji.
7.
Serve hot garnished with coriander, spring onions and pomegranate seeds if using.
