Healthy Instant Corn Dhokla

We all love dhokla.
Would you like some now?

For this instant no need to wait for the batter to ferment? Do you want it to be healthy, with veggies and no complaints from the kids?

If your answer is yes then this recipe is for you!

I came across in Tarla Dalal’s Cooking & More that I had borrowed from our library. I don’t have the copy of the recipe but I noted down the recipe.

The only change I have made is added 1 tsp of garlic paste and steamed it in a vessel.

Ingredients:
1 cup sweet corn
½ cup curds
1 cup rava
½ tsp ginger green chilli paste
Salt
1 tsp fruit salt
¼ tsp lemon juice
¼ tsp oil
1 tsp garlic paste(my addition)
Method:
  1. Blend sweet corn and curd in mixer till smooth.
  2.  Add rava, ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste, salt & half cup water mix well.
  3.  Just before steaming sprinkle fruit salt and lemon juice. Mix gently
  4.  Spoon in greased muffin/ vati moulds and steam for 15-20 minutes. Cool and serve.

I have been tagged!

I have been tagged!
I was surprised & pleased when Priya of Now Serving choose me as one of her tags.
Surprised, as I was not expecting her to choose me, as there is lot more that I have to travel and pleased ….of course you will be pleased   too if  you are chosen too!
Thanks Priya!!

Now my dilemma starts to choose my own posts. I love each one of my post for they are conceived with the idea of pleasing the people who matter the most, my family!  It’s like asking a mother to choose her favourite baby!

Anyway the rules of the game need me to do so, here goes.

1.     The Most Beautiful Post

2.     Most Popular Post

3.     Most Contravention   Post

None. Thankfully.

4.     Most Helpful Post
5.     Surprisingly Successful Post

6.     The Post that did not get the attention it deserved
Most of my earlier posts fill this category but I would like to choose

7.     The one I am most proud of ( as my daughter has made them for me)

I would like to tag all of you but let’s face it I am the typical Goan with a ‘susegad’ attitude I wish I can just write the name and the link is ready as in face book. Blogger are you listening!!

O! Kalyani of Kalyani’s platter has awarded me these awards! Thanks Kalyani!
I would like to pass it on to

Noodle Cutlet

F or the recent Blog Hop Vardhini had posted noodle cutlets.
I knew I had to make it and so I did! What lovely cutlets they were.  It was difficult to say who enjoyed them more the kids or their mother.

Limbu Sherbet/Lemonade

Limbu Sherbet or Lemonade is Akanksha’s favourite drink so much that I have to hide the blessed thing from her.  So when my friend sent me a bag full of lemons there was no other choice but make Limbu Sherbet.  So without much ado let’s get down to what I have done.

Ingredients:
1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
½ tsp salt
Food colour of you choice (optional)
Lemon essence (optional)

Method:
1.     Mix sugar and water, heat it when it comes to a rolling boil switch off the gas.
2.     Cool the mixture completely. Strain.
3.     Strain the juice in another vessel.
4.     Now mix the fruit juice, colour & essence if using.
P.S. in case you are using any other juice like say pineapples add 6 grms citric acid to the water and sugar mixture 7 boil .
You can also use potassium-meta-bisulphate as a preservative. I generally avoid it.
